Sustainability
Protecting the environment is one of Northbourne’s core values. We commit to continuing to reduce our footprint on the environment.
We recognise that our business has a corporate and social responsibility to promote the long-term sustainability of events and festivals. We’re proud of our efforts to ensure sustainable operations with the following initiatives contributing to beneficial environmental outcomes:
• Understanding and managing environmental risks with the goal of minimising or eliminating those risks.
• Ensuring the environment is considered in our planning and event management strategies:
• Eco-friendly packaging: Use biodegradable or recyclable cups (e.g. TURN Systems – wash and reuse drinkware).
• Waste reduction: Implement recycling and composting programs to minimise the amount of waste generated during the event.
• Local sourcing: Partner with local suppliers to reduce transportation-related carbon emissions and support the local economy.
• Our preference is not to provide straws at events. If straws are mandatory under the specific requirements of an event, we provide paper straws only.
• To ensure the footprint of our events is reduced, our event menus will include alcoholic beverages packaged in cans: canned beer and cider and canned pre-mixed spirit ready-to-drink products.
• We always use bio-cups or reusable PET vessels for tap beer.
• Our menus include single-serve soft drink varieties in cans only. Our policy prohibits the sale of single-serve soft drinks in plastic.
• We prefer to sell canned water. Where possible, we avoid ranging water that is sold in plastic bottles and packaged in plastic.
